What is an electronic cigarette and how do they work?
An electronic cigarette is a nicotine delivery system which provides an alternative way to consume nicotine, via a battery and liquid container.
There are three main parts to an electronic cigarette, the battery, vapourising chamber and the cartomiser/clearomiser. The Battery and cartomiser/clearomiser connect to each other to create the Electronic Cigarette. The battery provides power to the cartomiser/clearomiser and the cartomiser/clearomiser is the section which stores and heats up the E-Liquid turning it to vapour. As the E-Liquid is vapourised, once inhaled it gives you a dose of nicotine and a taste of flavour then when exhaled will produce a cloud of vapour.
What are the contents of 10 Motives liquid?
The liquid we use in most of our products contain liquid nicotine, and base ingredients to create a smooth flavour. This base consists of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG). Propylene glycol is used for its ability to create the vapour, which you see. Vegetable glycerin is a clear, odourless liquid produced from plant oils and used to enhance the flavour. Our Liquids have mixes containing 80% PG/VG 20% to 50% PG/VG 50%. PG and VG are combined with natural or artificial flavours which creates a unique and satisfying vape.
Why are there so many electronic cigarettes?
Electronic cigarette batteries come in many different shapes and sizes. Most importantly, we have found that battery life or duration can directly be measured by the individual battery’s mAh (milli Ampere hour).
Another important finding regarding electronic cigarette batteries is the direct correlation between battery life or longevity and physical size of the battery. For example, disposables are small in physical size as they are designed to look very similar to traditional cigarettes. They therefore also feature ‘smaller’ batteries around 180 mAh. On the other hand, typical hybrid batteries would be in the range of 400 mAh – 650 mAh. MOD systems have an even greater range of battery size and ultimately life, many times in the area of 1200 mAh to as much as 3500 mAh.
The key distinction to make in discerning battery life is recognising the fact that the larger the battery in mAh, the larger the battery is in physical size and ultimately the longer the battery will last upon being fully charged.
How long do the batteries last?
All our batteries are lithium and dependent upon use should last the user approximately 6 months. We recommend only charging using 10 Motives or Cirro chargers, as using any other manufacturer’s chargers could reduce the life span and is potentially hazardous. If a fault occurs within 3 months of the purchase date we will happily replace the faulty battery. Should this happen please contact our customer service department. You must retain the battery in order for us to have it tested and also provide proof of purchase.
How long should a refill last?
Each refill contains the equivalent amount of nicotine as approximately 25 tobacco cigarettes. The users smoking habits will ultimately determine the life span of the refills. The heavier the draw, or the more powerful the battery, the quicker the liquid will be used.
What are the different types of clearomisers/tanks for?
Whether filling a top or bottom coil clearomiser, the same principles apply. The rule of clearomiser filling, no matter which type you have, is do not get liquid down the centre tube. All modern clearomisers have some kind of air tube running down the middle inside the main tank section. Getting liquid down the tube can cause performance problems by flooding the heating coils with too much liquid, and leaking liquid.
Our CE4 and CE5 clearomisers are a simple to use single coil clearomiser, taking the fuss out of vaping. Their simplicity makes them popular for beginners. They both combine the ease of use of a tank with the consistent reliable style of a clearomiser, which are simple to fill. They both have a sealed bottom that will not leak, and provides hours of vaping between fills.
The sub ohm tank features replaceable coils heads that can be vaped at less than 1 ohm and have a much more open airflow. This allows for a huge increase in the amount of vapour produced. The most standard sub ohm coil seems to be the 0.5ohm coil and coils go all the way down to around 0.2ohm. In order to be able to use these coils, you will need a device that fires down to the ohm level of the coil you intend to use. So if you want to use the 0.5ohm coils you will need a high powered device capable of firing down to 0.5ohm. Check the specs of your device first before you purchase yourself a sub ohm tank, as you might need to upgrade your device as well. Mods with 20-50W capacity work particularly well with the new sub ohm tanks.
Temperature control coils are the newest technology to hit the market. The coils themselves are close in design to other tanks. However, the wire inside is made out of a different material, usually titanium or nickel rather than kanthal. The basic principle behind temperature control is simple.
Instead of selecting the voltage or power output the mod should deliver, you set the temperature you want the atomiser to run at. When you press the activation button the mod monitors the temperature and automatically adjusts power to bring the coil up to that temperature as fast as possible, and keep it there. The temperature of the coil has a huge influence on how your vapour tastes. Too hot and it’ll start to taste burnt, too cool and your liquid won’t vaourise at all.
